Tavistock to Grimsby after a few last minute appointments .

Where are we today ?

    Today's Journey
one hour 25 minutes a nice easy drive

Cooler again and 37 f (2.7C) this morning but we had a good night's sleep. No walkabouts but after coffees I headed into New Hamburg for a hearing test and tune up my hearing aides for the winter. Plus batteries and extra parts in case I need them.
From there I whipped into Stratford to the Bulk Barn for some supplies we use. And a stop at Canadian Tire for gas and a new wiper blade for the car, Use our points for the wiper blade so free! Like free.
got some sesame seeds, sunflower seeds
and a dehydrated vegetable mix I like to add to my soups
Back home we had a light lunch, secured the coach and Suzie headed into New Hamburg for her dentist appointment at noon, and I took the coach to the arena parking lot, waited for her so we could hook up the car and head on down the road. To 50 point conservation area and Campground for a week. This is the most expensive place we have ever camped but is worth it for us. $355.00 for one week, hey this is Canada! But we have a grandson in a Hockey Tournament this weekend, and friends in the area, that we might hook up with. Hockey is Friday, Sat and maybe Sunday. Not far down the road in St Catherines . Its much colder now and to stay in the colder weather it is nice to have full hookups. Was 50f (10c) on Tavistock at noon and 62 F (16C) on Grimsby, even with the winds was much nicer here.
We can't cross the border until next Thursday and it is not cost effective to drive a long distance for a free membership campground for 3 days.  We do what we have to do and will enjoy this area that we have not been to for quite a few years.
some foggy back road through Plattsville
20  minutes later the fog is gone
90 Minutes later we cruised through Hamilton and arrived at 50 Point.
Checked in at 2:45 pm and all set up before 3:30. Not great for sitting outside with the overcast skies, but we did get to enjoy reading inside for a while.
Soon time to whip up supper. Tonight a Turkey Stroganoff with the leftover turkey and gravy from our Thanksgiving weekend. For the recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar.
this sure hit the spot and used up some leftovers
Nice to be on our way enjoying some new sights and going to spend more time with family again over the weekend.
Thanks again for stopping on by and hope you had a great day as well.

  1. We love 50 Point. As you mentioned it is somewhat pricey, but a really great spot. The sites are so big.

  2. That is expensive for a week but you're making memories and it's well worth it when the grandkids are happy to have you there.

  3. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I am sure getting to watch your grandchildren play hockey and spending time with family and friends makes it worth it.
The weather is starting to turn colder here, also. Now we are just hoping it doesn't get to cold before November. At least there is no snow in the forecast yet...:) Enjoy your time there.
