Where are we today ?
My early morning walkabout at 7 am took me over to the Conservation area across the road. Can hear the waterfalls roaring from our site with the recent heavy rains we had. So checked out the falls.
|
the river above the falls is really flowing |
|
stairs down to the falls |
|
so much power from the water |
Now back home just puttering around and our friend Ron stopped by. Hey George got your camera? Yep right here. Hop in the truck got something to show you. So him, me and John the maintenance guy here headed up to their seasonal site at the top of the hill.
Very early this morning he spotted three Raccoons babies with out their mother. Hiding behind his shed.
|
Ron took this picture |
Now John lives in the country and has raised many baby wild animals and knew exactly what to do. Mother not here, either they have been abandoned or she was killed. He said they are about a month old. He has an "In" with a local vet that will supply him with rabies shots and "Cat's" milk so that he can feed them. He will raise them until the fall and let them loose to fend for themselves in the wild.
|
we found them diding under a neighbors steps, so cute they are |
|
this one is feisty but he knows how to handle them |
|
they cozy for now until he is done work |
Back home heard this truck come in and drop his trailer. He turned around and the back of his truck is a forklift! To unload the lumber, what a great idea.
Then I had a repair project. Suzie's favorite chair broke. But I had the supplies , tools and know how to fix it.
|
now over 20 years old but still fixable |
I have an old hardwood shovel handle so I whittled it down to fix the tubbing, inserted it, fastened in place and drilled a hole for the bolt.
|
now stronger than new, love these old chairs |
A bite for lunch then we can enjoy reading outside for a while. Getting to be our kinda weather. But the winds picked up with gusts to 50 kpm (30 mph).
Suzie made an executive decision that we secure our awning, even though it was tied down. Good choice Suzie, we don't need to loose it and possibly damage our coach.
|
awning up and no shade but we just need to move to the back of our coach |
|
nice here in the shade |
|
inside our coach at 5:21 pm, but we have a nice breeze |
I am whipping up supper on our Weber Q after prepping a salad. Doing some Haddock fillets with Fish Crisp tonight. In the cast iron pan on our Weber, a table spoon of olive oil is all we need it works amazing.
Added a garlic bun with a bit of cheese to the mix and was wonderful.
|
worked good and more healthy eating |
The beauty of this lifestyle is we never know what will unfold from one day to next. Every day is an adventure.
Thanks once again for stopping by for a visit.
Check out the interactive map below to see where we have been this Spring and Summer.
I didn't realize you were right across from the beautiful conservation area. What a wonderful place to have a morning walk.
ReplyDeleteWe just caught three babies and a mother. We did the "relocation" plan with them.
The conservation area is wonderful, trouble is we have to pay $4.00 every time we go in there.
DeleteNo mother around , they will be relocated once they are older.
The babies are so cute. This is the time of year when all the little babies are around. Maybe the mother will be back.
ReplyDeleteLots of babies everywhere, doubt the mother is around there is no sign of her.
DeleteThose babies have some mighty sharp teeth and racoons can turn viscous at any time... probably should just let them out on their own...
ReplyDeleteJohn has raised, baby racoons before, as well as squirrels, hawks and various others and wants to make sure they survive longer than being left alone at this young age. They will return to the wild before fall.
DeleteThe conservation area is beautiful! Love the waterfalls.
ReplyDeleteThose raccoons are just too cute. How are you sure that the mother isn't just away getting food for them or just wandering around and will be back later. I know that cats leave their kittens for quite awhile once they get bigger?

The mother has been gone for longer than a day, not likely she is around anymore or even alive.
DeleteThose raccoons sure are cute. However, I can recall a "pesky invasion" in the middle of the night when I was camped with a bunch of folks near Moab. I woke up in the middle of the night to them scurrying on the roof of my RV, and a couple of folks had them spring the latch on their screen doors and get into their packs of food.
ReplyDeleteYes they are cute but like you said can cause a lot of damage around campsites.
DeleteReally enjoy the first shot of the coons. Bev doesn't make many executive decisions but when she does, it is definitely decided. Fried fish is just plain hard to beat.
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute.
DeleteAnd like you said fried fish is oh so good.
Great job on the chair repair. Nice to see some old time craftsmanship and somebody who knows how to fix something instead of tossing it. :c)
ReplyDeleteThanks guys, I do like to repair things whenever possible. It still is in good shape and will last quite a few more years yet.
DeleteA beautiful area indeed. Love the baby photos. Very kind of John to take on such a time consuming project.
ReplyDeleteJohn just loves doing this stuff and has done for years, he is a natural.
