A beautiful spring day, Celebration of life and a Hockey game.

Where are we today ?

Milder again last night more windows open and at 5am 52F (11C) this is wonderful. Not a great sunrise but by 7 am the sun was shining and warming up very nicely. I got a short walkabout around the block then took a wonderful country drive just enjoying the peaceful back roads.
our morning view
a nice walk down the road
back home again
love the quiet country drives
Then a walk  down the road towards the river, on a beautiful Sunday morning.
small creek bubbling
looking north on the Ninth  river beside River road
Puttering around for a while outside it was actually a very warm sunny day 67F  (19C), then at 11:30 we heading east on HWY 401 and North of Toronto ON HWY 400, about a 90 minute drive. When we left Plattsville. For another visitation (Celebration Of Life) for the mother of a lifelong friend of mine Jim Kelly.  We went to public and high school together, worked on cars and motorcycles,  chased girls in our teenage years So many memories we made together, his mother baking us cookies what a wonderful lady she was played games at their house etc. I am also the God Father to his son Adam. We still manage to keep in touch with him over the years on occasions not nearly enough though. We will have to try more often than weddings and funerals. Though Jim did come for a visit to see us last summer
heading North highway 400 Passing Canada's Wonderfland
We left the Celebration of life  just after 3 pm, nice to see Jim and his family there again it has been so long also a few other people from probably 40/50 years ago wow, has it been that long? We just chatted, snacked and enjoyed a celebration of her life. All the pictures and I remember so many of them as well.
From there we headed to The Galt Arena for 5:30 to watch Grandson # 4 play another game in his hockey tryouts for major AA peewee teams. Always good hockey at this level.
We got there 5 minutes late just missing him score the first goal of the game, darn.
we did get some nice smiles from Grandaughter #3
as we always do
this be him  #8 yellow socks, black uniform
he skated hard and had a good game.
the teams shaking hands after the game
here we are waiting outside for him to get changed
good night guys see you soon.
That was our day getting things taken care of. 4 hours of driving , visitations,  family time and a hockey game. Home by 7:30 still 64F, we enjoyed this beautiful weather outside. Post this blog and read for a while. loving this weather.
Oh and because of this wonderful spring day I managed to catch a beautiful sunset. at 8:05 pm just drove down the road about 1/4 of a mile and there it was.
across the river
and a cross the fields.
A perfect ending to a day full of mixed feelings. from the sadness of the passing of Jim;'s Mom to the happiness of spending some time with family, the grands and a hockey game.
Thanks for dropping by to our lifestyle that we love. And hope y'all had a wonderful spring day wherever you may be.

  2. Not just a nice weather day but a day with friends gathering and sharing, GS growing strong into manhood and GD#3 with sparkling eyes for g-pa. We are also of the age now going to more remembrance services than weddings, but still a time for old friends ot catch-up and form new bondings.

  4. What a roller coaster of emotions in particular with two rememberances in a row. Glad you were also able to de-stress by spending time with your family in particular the grand kids. Your granddaughter looks at you with so much love in her beautiful eyes. You are a lucky man!

  6. George we are wondering if by chance the Jim Kelly you visited is the same Jim Kelly who used to work at McNally in Bellville? If so he should remember us. Our boat the "Diesel Duck" was built there.
Yesterday sure was a nice day and today is promising too, nice pictures.

    1. Marlene I don't think he is the same one, Jim was a Master Plumber and usually worked in the Toronto Barrie area and an avid Muskie fisherman.
The weather was wonderful for sure.

  8. Granddaughter #3 is just getting cuter and cuter :) Your grandson sounds like an awesome hockey player! So sorry about Jim's mom, she sounds like a wonderful woman! You certainly have good memories of her and of course Jim. Your Wonderland must be the equivalent of our Marriotts. Very popular in the summer months! Beautiful sunset to end your day!

  10. Isn't it something to have so many grandkids you have to keep track of them by number? Not to mention how much fun it is to remember all the birthdays! :cD
