Quartzsite, south through Yuma to Winterhaven California, Pilot Knob Resort.

Where are we today ?
Today we can head on down the road. Overcast and a bit windy but a good day for travelling. So about 9:30 we headed on out. Just 92.5 miles mostly desert. We knew we were close to Yuma, irrigation, orange groves and fields of cauliflower, broccoli and newly planted crops.
92.5 miles
One  more wonderful sunrise here in Quartzsite at Dome Rock. Then a bit later hit the road.
past Tyson Wells still pretty quiet
Then head south on 95 towards Yuma
Past the Proving Grounds
orange groves
Cauliflower
workers in the fields
Now in California
Here we are Pilot Knob Resort full hookups for us no overnight fees except $3.00 for electricity part of our Membership park system. Even though we are in California they use Arizona time, so we don't need to reset our clocks. Almost all the shopping we do is in Yuma so may as well stay in that time zone, as is the shops in Los Algodones Mexico on Arizona time.
Checked in and parked on our site by 11:30. Stopped over to see our friends John and Barb a couple sites away. We had discussed earlier going to Lin's for the Chinese Buffet that we so love  in Yuma. With Christmas coming we wanted to avoid the crowds and we were all craving it right now, so let's go for lunch NOW!
Doggie fix for Suzie. piper and Hank
So we did a quick 10 minute setup the coach, it is so easy to set up. We were on our way and at Lin's for 12:30. Perfect timing, they were busy but no lineups perfect! $8.80 each for us seniors still a good price. More expensive for supper and on the weekends.
this the place
It's a buffet so you grab a plate and choose, so many choices too,  really hard but we did our best to sample lots just cause we like it all.
wings salad egg roll to start
hot snd sour soup I love
a little fresh made sushi I really enjoy too
salt and pepper shrimp, butterfly shrimp, fried fish,
baked salmon
some had desert
I am not a dessert eater, so rice, ribs, mushrooms and a crawfish finished me off.
my desert
That was our social hour or 2 chatting at the Chinese Buffet. Nice to do this early in the day so we can wear some of it off before bedtime tonight. Also great  to get together with friends again.
Back home about 3 pm set up our satellite dish and a walkabout the resort, signed up for the Christmas dinner at 1 pm Christmas day. Take a dish to share and they provide the turkey, dressing , gravy and mashed taters only a $5.00 donation is not bad.
another nice large corner site looking west right beside the desert
lotsa room
Just a bit more puttering, walking and reading. Put together this posting and enjoy the sunset right outside our kitchen window.
No supper tonight not even a snack we did our limit at noon. Dark now so read a bit and maybe even watch a movie ?
nice desert sunset towards Imperial sand dunes
Another very nice relaxing day and about as far south as we will get this winter, The temp today about 72f but a bit overcast and windy. The next few days a bit cooler but not unlike years in the past. Gotta remember this is the first day of winter the days will be getting longer now! Sure beats that brutal cold winter that they will get eventually back home. They have it pretty warm there right now , not much different than here.
Thanks for stopping by and if you around Pilot knob in The next 2 weeks drop by and say HI !
remember to mark this on your Calendar

  7. We like you blog. Nice job. We've been full timing since 2000 and it's a wonder we never ran into each other since we go to the same places. Maybe this year in Qsite. We've been going there for I think 15 years. Maybe we can meet up and solve the world problems. See ya?... Dennis & Carol Hill at www.rvdrivingschool.blogspot.com

  8. That's quite a buffet spread and it looks like you got your money's worth. I'm with you on the dessert and would rather have more savory stuff.

  11. Hi George and Suzie, every once in a while we get the Chinese buffet craving too. I've learned not to take so much so I don't walk away with regret of eating too much! Their desserts never appeal to me anyway. We are certainly experiencing the warm temps here, 14C today and tomorrow. Unbelievable and we'll keep on taking it as long as we can!
