Ma and Pa Fest....

Where are we today ?
Another fun day here with more great weather. The walkabouts and stuff, play with dogs and mow a bit more lawn. Its not growing as fast anymore so did not do the whole 5 acres, only the spots that needed it. Then can read for a short while in the shade.
Excellent lawn mower
Shortly after 3 pm we packed up our chairs and cooler head down the back roads to Ma and Pa Fest. We took some mini tarts and bean salad. Have been going to this fun gathering for many years and I have posted about it in the past. This year Suzie's Mom and Dad were invited so we showed them the way there. Ma is Kay and Pa is Elmer, he was the arena Manager in Plattsville for ever it seems until he retired about 15 years ago. According to Elmer they started doing a small get together like this about 50 years ago and just seems to get larger every year. Some years as many as 200 people here I believe.
They supply the meat and the rest is a pot luck affair. So much wonderful food.
Ma and Pa Fest
his fish pond with huge fish
Suzie and her Mom and Dad chatting with Elmer
stoking the campfire for the corn pot
The BBQ going with 3 roast beef and 3 pork roasts
taking the roasts off the spit
Dan is carving the three turkeys he deboned and smoked earlier. Man is it ever tasty.
smoked turkey
this smoked turkey was so moist and tender
Now the roast beef amazing , melt in in your mouth.
Dan you do an awesome job !
I missed them carving the pork roasts, but again done to perfection.
cast iron pot for the corn over the fire
putting the corn in foil lined coolers
this friendly dog wanted his own chair
so many people to chat with
the laneway lined with cars
desert tent
Elmer welcoming everyone, then grace
Kay making sure everything is all set
so many choices, where do we start?
I started and finished here,
well a few more nibbles
More wood on the fire for those sitting around
nice huge sunflowers at the edge of the corn field
cute drink holder
Did we have a great time? You betcha, did we eat to much? Yaaaaa.... But it is so nice to attend this get together and chat with so many people we have not seen for a long time or at least last years party. Thanks Ma and Pa  and all the volunteers that make this event a success.
Glad you could all drop by here a visit with us, it was a great day again.

  6. Looks like a really fun event and great that Ma & Pa are willing to put it on each year. I like their choices of meats and would have picked the same ones. I love pot lucks but hate to have to pass on so many of the great looking offerings - the plate and stomach can only hold so much.

    1. There sure is, the Weber Q works great for a small group. But not for a 100 ore more people.
