Sat. June 4th, Everybody Loves a Wedding

Join us as we travel North America in our
Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August 2006

Everybody loves a wedding, don't they? Happy faces, happy people, celebrating love, people reuniting, laughing eating and dancing. Well we do, and today we are attending my godson Adam's wedding in Stayner Ontario. Adam is the son of a good friend Jim, we went to high school and hung out working on cars back in the 60's. We are both now retired and have tried to keep in touch over the years. This is another occasion to do this.
todays travels

So this morning we are on the road moving from Brocks Beach to the Stayner Community centre a 6 minute drive, but free parking for the night, we were allowed to park here for the night of the wedding.
heavy rain

The morning starts out with thunder and very heavy rains, so we patiently wait for the rains to let up and they did around 11:00am so now we can pack up and do outside stuff without getting soaked. We got to the arena parked then went for lunch to check out Bluewater Fish and Chips, we were told they had very good fish. So we ordered their halibut lunch with lightly battered fish and fresh cut fries, we were not disappointed at all, we will be back when we are in the area.

Now the rain has stopped and we are back home to change for the wedding at 2 pm, (Suzie said to wear a suit today, no shorts, hat or vest ! ) an outdoor wedding is much nicer with no rain and the weather did cooperate.

After the service we were able to reconnect and chat with many people we have not seen for quite a while. Talking about wild parties and get togethers we had in the 60's, wow! we are all senior citizens now where did the time go! Back to the community centre and socilaize more, then a beautiful meal, some funny speeches and games, then music and dancing. The theme of the wedding is Super Mario, a wii game that both the bride and groom love to play. The Bartenders dressed the part and Adam's sister Karen made the cakes. It was quite nice the DJ played our kind of country and Rock music considering Adam and Ashley are in their late 20's the music was older than them but everybody danced and had a great time.
lovely meal

Eventually it came time for us to go home (after midnight, can you believe it?), so out to the parking lot to crawl into our comfortable bed for a good nights sleep.

  1. How fortunate that the weather cleared up. Looks like a good party. I bet everyone was envious that you only had to walk a few feet home at midnite rather than drive. By the way, you look great! Now I see why Suzie chose you:))

Thanks flattery will get you everywhere. I used to wear a suit everyday for years, now try to avoid them. I think she choose me so that I would cook for her !
