Mon. June 6th Casino Rama, fun!

Join us as we travel North America in our
Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August 2006

We had a great sleep overnight, fresh warm air, windows open lovin the weather now! After morning coffee and computing I did a walkabout the grounds and the casino, amazing the people in there at 8:00 a.m., love the Indian paintings and scenery on the buildings.

Back  home  then we got ready to go back inside about 11:00am. Here we pick up our free players card and each get a $15.00 voucher for any of the many restaurants there. So we checked them out, we could have done the buffet but decided instead to sit in a nice restaurant at the Hotel where Suzie had a huge tasty omelette, and I had a nice feast of wings and fries, we like free! Then we took a walk out the front by the lovely waterfall, bright sunshine, and nice gardens.

Back inside towards the Casino a lobby with Indian holograms on many totem poles telling a history of the tribes in this area, quite interesting.

Ok now back into the Casino to try our luck at a few slot machines. We are not gamblers but had fun for a while with the penny slots making a small donation, after all we got free food, free pop and coffee and free accommodation for two nights, oh did I say we like free?

After this fun we called some friends we had met quite a few years ago in Algonquin Park, they live about 15 minutes up the road in Washago. Just so happens they were home so we went for a drive. Stopped at an Indian Store, Rama Moccasin and Smoke along the way and got Suzie a new pair of moccasins with a warm furry lining, her other pair finally wore out after 15 years.

We got to Kirsty and Shanes about 1:30 and there they were Shane had taken a day off today to repair a leaky basement, so we did not stop him from working, (he is a Stone Mason).

Kirsty greets us
As I had said we met them many years ago, (their girls were quite young then) camping in Algonquin Park every year except last year.
Petra, Kirsty and Gabby, looking like sisters
Even their dog Magnus came to greet us, Suzie has her dog fix again!.

We did have a very nice visit with them and shared our stories of winter travel, us to the southern states and they spent the winter in New Zealand, Australia and Tasmania, in a rental motorhome.  Now thats a trip we would love to take, someday.... Finally time for us to head back home, as the girls headed out with some friends to the local river where they jump off the bridge to cool off. It was such a nice unexpected visit, we had a great time.

Back down Rama Road to the Casino and home.

It was still hot and sunny so we opened the windows, got our lawn chairs out and sat in the shade with a nice breeze and our books at about 5:00pm. With a nice large lunch we weren't too hungry so just nibbled on a sandwich and enjoyed the beautiful evening reading, before we knew it was almost 9:00 p.m., then watch a few minutes of the hockey game and call it a night. After another great day.

  1. Free is good! Casinos really seem to know how to do it too, as long as you know when to stop. We usually play the penny machines too and have managed to walk away with some money or break even.

Glad you are having beautiful weather.

  2. Kevin and Ruth:
Yes love the weather, and a few dollars at the penny machines is ok, sometimes we win a bit sometimes not. Still cheaper than a campsite.
