We had a great sleep again last night after such beautiful colourful skies in the evening. Looking at the office/restaurant building every morning is the golden retriever dog sitting on the roof standing guard over the campground.
Very calm water this morning for such a huge expanse of water barely a ripple in it. It is a nice sunny day and no wind until later on in the day. Around noon 3 rv's pulled into the campground looking for the perfect site. They ended up beside us because they wanted to maybe connect to the internet. Which they did and blocked us for the connection. No Problem thou we are leaving in the morning anyway.
We sat around a read for a while then the 3 couples came a visited for happy hour and we shared maps and travel stories for a while. Followed by a nice supper of pork chops, potatoes, and broccoli and a movie.

Another nice sunrise to the left this morning, and 5 new rv's were here overnight. A group of 3 and 2 single travellers all from Canada, Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. I chatted with some of them as they walked the beach and their dogs getting ready to hit the road by 8:30 a.m. heading back north.
We puttered around a bit, washed the car, then took a drive to the fishing village of Yavaros about 15 minutes away. A typical Mexican village with small adobe/stucco homes and shacks, animals roaming freely and a lot of fishermen at their boats cleaning and selling fresh fish and shrimp. A little further into the village we found a huge fish canning factory that probably employed the rest of the people. Besides the few restaurants and small grocery stores.
One thing that we have noticed everywhere in Mexico is that no matter where you are you can always buy Coca-Cola and beer! Tecate, Modelo and Pacifico seem to be the main breweries here and they each set up their own small stores everywhere. Beer is also available in most stores along with many varieties of Tequila and Mexican Brandy.
After here we took the short drive to the town Huatabompo again and found the Mercado Municipal (basically the farmers market and downtown shopping areas), Walking about the shops and vendors was interesting but we found that the meat vendors were done for the day at the market (I was looking for pork spare ribs). There is always an abundance of fresh seafood and chicken, but beef and pork are hard to come by in some areas. This is duly noted for future travels into Mexico.
Back home we had lunch then a walkabout and read for a while enjoying the view. Followed by supper of something we have not had for a long time, hot dogs and kraft dinner, a pastry for desert then a movie. Wed. Pics.

SUNSET
SUNRISE
You choose both are beautiful!!
What a great place to be, in the morning while having coffee at the kitchen table I can look to my left watching the sunrise over ocean and mountains, look right and see the moon shining on the ocean as it's beginning to set or just look straight out the front window at the great expanse of water looking for Dolphins.
About 11:00am we went for a drive into Huatabompo, this is a real town here. They have paved streets, stop lights, traffic circle, cathedral, restaurants, stores, of course a town square, even a huge Ley grocery store. This is like a Walmart that sells everything, clothing, electronics, automotive, produce, groceries, meat and even a fresh bakery section. So we picked up a few items even a fried chicken snack for lunch at the deli counter.
Then we took a leisurely drive back home, you have to drive slowly with all the Tope's (speed bumps). Back at Huatabompito we drove down the main street which just a sandy trail that has been drifting in. Kinda nice to see the road grader plowing thru the drifts and hauling away truck loads of sand, (putting it back on the beach) that have been blocking the roadway. Reminds me of the snow covered roads in Canada, except it is 80f (26c), much more comfortable.
We then sat in the shade and read for a while before supper of chicken, vegetable stir fry, with chinese noodles, desert from Ley's and then a movie.

Suzie enjoying the view!
Wow March 1st!!! Time sure flies only 51 days left before we get back to Ontario. It sure will be nice to see the family and friends again, but it will be much colder than we have been used to all winter.
As we watched the sunrise and the moon set, looking out the front window a huge black mass inches above the water heading north for about 15 minutes was thousands of large birds a very impressive sight. About 9:00am I looked up from my computer to see dolphins playing in the surf. Such a beautiful site only about 100 yards away, and I did manage to catch a few snapshots of them.
This area is surrounded by sand dunes and very quiet right now. Apparently Easter week is the busiest time of the year here. Something we are getting more used to is the livestock (cows, bulls, goats, sheep, chickens turkeys, even horses) that just wander about everywhere, over the sand dunes , into the campground, down the road, at the side of the road, thats why people fence their property, to keep the animals out. We walked a couple of miles down the beach after lunch and checked out some of the beautiful mansions, and some shacks all shoulder to shoulder on the beach. Quite a few work crews were rebuilding, repairing and doing maintenance on these places. After Hurricane Jimena damage from last August.
Back home finding its now pretty windy outside so we putter around a bit and read inside (still have the sun and the view thou). Then before ya know it we are having a roast pork , potatoes, carrots and applesauce for supper, followed by a movie.

A little cooler now
A bit overcast today, but we are on the road this morning. I chatted for a bit with Horacio and said goodbye. Yesterday he had built a native "Sweat lodge" in preparation for today's workshop and spiritual cleansing this afternoon in the sweat lodge, which we were invited to. But we are prepared to move on, if we don't we will never make it back to Ontario.
A nice drive thru a lot of back country farmland crops were prospering, with the help of major irrigation. While traveling here in Mexico in still amazes us how friendly these people are. Truck drivers, farmers, bus drivers, passing cars, people at the side of the road, even children like to wave at us and smile. In the Pemex (gas station) 4 attendants come over and we try to converse in broken English and our very poor Spanish, they are interested to know where we are from and what Canada is like.
Complete stop!
When driving in Mexico we quickly learned that stop signs only mean stop if nobody is coming, maybe slow down a bit! But this sign really means it, especially with the presidents sticker under the word Total.
When we got to the toll highway we are supposed to go north but can only go south because of a barrier down the middle. There is very few overpasses so we head south about 2 miles to a "Retourno" where we can make a legal U on a 4 lane highway getting us back on track.
We went thru another produce inspection station and the inspector looked in our fridge and all was ok there, but he did ask for a cervasa. Laughing we carried on to Huatabampito (Whadda- bam- peeto) and El Mirador Hotel and Rv resort. Only 3 other rv's here so we had our choice of sites, with a beautiful view of the Sea Of Cortez thru our front windshield and the side ones as well.
We chatted with a few people, set up, relaxed for a bit then decided to try the excellent restaurant right here. With chips and salsa to start and scallops for an appetizer we shared a delicious seafood platter. All the different hot sauces on every table is always impressive but the bottle cozy the best. Cardboard and tape!
