Summer Solstice, gotta love it ! Invasion of the Giant Hogweed.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
A nice cool night for sleeping was 52F at 5am , then the sun soon rose and the day is going to warm up very nicely.being the first day of summer it will be an amazing day no doubt.
I did a nice walkabout town for a bit over a mile. stopped at Pettigrew's and made an appointment to check out our car Monday morning. Much better for his, schedule, it appears we may be here for a few more weeks, no problem we can do this and really love it here anyway.
I made quick trip to New Hamburg for a few things and home for an earlylunch. Then Suzie headed out to stop by her Dad's.and deliver a couple more of here geaneology books to Tavistock , and her brothers then home here by 1pm. Now we can enjoy this wonderful very warm summer  day outside with our page turners. 84F in the shade = perfect
I took a walk behind us into the bush across the road and found these HUGE Giant Hog weed bushes back there again this year, though in a different place. A very invasive bush and can be quite harmful if you come in contact with them. You and check them out here,  Giant Hogweed for information click this link HERE. Major skin damage can be done if you contact these plants. And possible blindness as well.
these are HUGE
8-10 feet tall
I was going to walk these trails but still too much mud from the ATV's trails. Surprisingly no mosquitoes  right now though.
I love exploring these trails ,
but not in the mud
Lots of tree fungus to see is always interesting here in the bush.
Back home to relax in the shade and checked out John's pool, almost ready for the summer months.
soon with be ready to swim here
love the shed he has here and the signs
the wheeping willows behind us
what a wonderful day
Got more reading done. Finished another John Sandford and started the next in this series I really do enjoy his writing. has me hooked.
another great page turner
Just a great day enjoying this summer weather
A nice Happy hour withe Suzie then soon time to whip up supper. We had some bacon that needed to be cooked so just grilled it on our Weber Q while reading outside, we can use it for whatever !
not long to cook this on our Weber Q.
Soon it was time for supper. So tonight a couple of Hayters Turkey Burgers with onion and parsley the we really enjoy,
we do love these burgers
not  long these were done  with Bacon  cheese on mine
english muffins for buns
Suzie wanted french fries so I cut up a couple of potatoes for some fresh cut fires in our Fry Daddy.
nothing better than fresh
 home-made fries
this sure did the trick tonight
After another great weather day that the weather Gods promised we can enjoy another quiet evening outside and more of this great weather.
Gonna wrap up this posting shortly after 8 pm tonight now cooling down in the low 70's F , read bit more then head inside. maybe a bit later I will catch a sun set and if I do you will see it tomorrow night.,
Hope y'all had great first day of summer and thanks for dropping in.

  1. Wait!! Grilled bacon??? Genius - no fat spatter cleanup. That’s a weird weed. Never heard of it.

    1. A nice way to cook bacon , like you said no greasy clean up. It is dangerous and mostly in this area of southern Ontario

    1. We are enjoying it finally, the pool is nice and refreshing in the hot weather. It is a very mean bush and can be painful.

  3. Thanks for the tip on Hogweed, it's common in the PNW too. Another beautiful day for you and it's SUMMER!, while we continue to enjoy our mist and clouds :( That should soon change as we move on from the PNW

  4. How can something that looks so pretty be so awful at least I'll know if I ever come across it thanks for the warming.

    1. You will know them because of their size. Not likely to see them in the desert they need damp swamp like soil to grow.

  7. Of course HogWeed will grow like crazy in places you don't want it to be. Would be nice if good plants would do that instead. Thank goodness I'm nowhere near those plants. :cO

  9. Thanks for the bacon tip - great way to keep the mess down inside! I often fry the entire package of bacon then freeze it, but the grill will be way better! Hogweed - I'll steer clear of it if we ever see it. Sounds awful! Such a beautiful place for you to be, especially if you have to stay around for awhile.

    1. The bacon works really well on our Weber Q , no mess inside the house.
It is a wonderful place to hang out and we do love it here.
