St. Jacobs market, on a beautiful warm Saturday !

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Happy Saturday,  hmm the weekend is here. Does it matter much to us? Not much  other than the St.Jacobs Market is open today and the weather is perfect for a trip there. Its been a while and few things we would like to pick up. We headed out at 9 am for the 30 minutes drive, and always a busy place especially in this nice weather.
Few things we wanted to pick up, walking most of the market enjoying all the samples of fresh fruit and vegetables and there is some amazing deals to be had if you need. Suzie got a new supply of socks first thing, then into the large market building to our favourite vendors in there Hilltop Poultry farms, Hey what the heck? they are not here. Talked to a a neighbouring vendor and was told they have retired from the market after 40 years but still have their store in Breslau.
So much to see and do here, so many wonderful foods. we just love this market.
pickle on a stick for a buck
making our way through the crowds
fresh  baked goods
pastries
pedlars village so many more vendors
lots of fresh seafood here but pricey
Good deals here on produce can be had as well.
love the seats here
4 for 10 bucks good deals
wagin rides around the village
Inside lots of bakery and  fresh meat vendors as well, take your choice.
a lots of fresh sausage as well,
we want the turkey garlic sausage
Ok and then to stop at the British Baked goods in Peddlars Vilage for some pork sausage rolls and some cornish pasties that we love. The vendors Husband there is Mario I used to work with at MTD products back in the 80's Wow that was a long time ago he was a QC inspector and I was lift truck driver and a union steward there for almost 6 years. Small world!
got our sausage rolls and cornish pasties here
the one busker we saw today
he was very good
a perfect day for the market
We left the market and headed to Hilltop Poultry Farm in Breslau only 15 minutes away out in the country they have a store there at the farm and the Turkey Garlic sausage we are craving. Got what we wanted for now, wish we had more freezer room but it is pretty full right now, then headed back to Plattsville by 11:30 we had a light lunch then I read outside for a bit in the shade.
they do have a nice store here, glad we found it
the country lane from their farm
Here we are back home enjoying this wonderful very warm sunny day 84F in the shade and nice east wind making it very comfortable.
our usual afternoon view here
we do love it
the strawberry rhubarb crisp is done. smell wonderful
Then I made a Rhubarb Crisp and added strawberries as well, in my cast iron fry pan, baked in the oven for that recipe you can clic HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar. This is to take to the Stere family reunion on Suzie's side in Tavistock tomorrow, Sunday.
The rest of the afternoon we enjoyed outside in the shade with our page turners and this amazing summer like weather. Temps up to 82F  (27C) for most of the afternoon then cooled down later to 72F (22C), with a cool wind, but still a wonderful sunny day.
Now to enjoy our happy hour in the shade reading our page turners then will make a salad to go with some fresh turkey garlic sausage we picked up today, satisfy this craving we have had.
2 lbs of sausage here, we will get 4 meals from this, 3 in the freezer
Not long on our Weber Q and grill some fresh asparugus we enjoy as well.
love our Weber Q
yup we had full tummies
Then next i will show you the sunset pictures I took last night just before 9 pm. . Not a far drive down the road but was worth it.
cows in the pasture
if I go looking can usually
find a sunset if one is out there
That was just another great day we both enjoyed with this excellent warm sunny day.
Thanks for taking the time to stop in and hope you had a great almost summer day as well.

  3. Thank you for letting us follow along with you both today. That is a huge market and has just about everything one could possibly want.

There was another time you featured turkey garlic sausage and I was intrigued. If I ever see it at HEB I will have to purchase some.

You that can sleep get a good night's rest because it looks like you will be equally busy tomorrow.

    1. It was here we found Hilltop Poultry but they do have their store on the farm. The owners are retiring from the market after many years having their presence here time for them to slow down. It was a wonderful day Jeff thanks.

    1. It really is an amazing market always fun to go there and see whats new. This is the only vendor I have found that has the Turkey garlic sausage and is so good. I keep looking for it in other stores. If it is made right it is so very tasty.
