Ma is all moved and settling in, a wonderful day for us all.

Where are we today ?
Gonna be a very hot humid day here, and no problem for us thats our kinda weather. Gonna be 30c (86f) with humidity 40c (104f). On the way out of town just down the road a bunch of wild turkeys running about the field. Wish I was a hunter they sure are great eating!

Shortly after 9 am headed into Waterloo to pack up the last few personal items of Ma's and her cat Tigger. Get them over the her new housing and settled in. Everyone there so helpful making the transition pretty smooth for her. House keeping was there, made up her bed with sheets and blankets they supply, towels included too.  They wash them and clean her room once a week. Maintenance arrived and hooked up her phone with a temporary number until her number can be transferred. Cable tv hooked up and working, internet will be hooked up on Monday for her. Hvae not seen Ma this happy for quite a while, she is still doing pretty good at 87.
The lady in charge of health care was here a few times to go over stuff with Ma. Got Tigger settled in his new house and helped ma arrange most of her stuff.

Then 12 noon, time for lunch and we are invited too. Everyone here is so helpful. We had a tasty lunch, carrot ginger soup, chicken salad sandwich, coleslaw, apple juice, coffee and they had apple crisp for desert. I enjoyed some yogurt.

a very decent meal here and 3 choices each time
Here is Ma in her room sis, brother and us sent ma a nice arrangement to welcome her to her new home.
I nice view out her bow window
her computer set to go, just need the internet on Monday
her dressers fridge etc.
This after noon's entertainment across from her room was a sing along with a piano player singing songs from her era. A very fun time lotsa people there, but we had things to do, could hear it clearly in the room.
She does seem quite happy and sure she will adjust quite easily with a few hiccups along the way expected. No problem we know she will be much better off there and has already made a few friends. Perfect !
That all done for now back to Camp Awesome, put up our feet for a few minutes, make a few phone calls. Suzie got here doggie fix, then I can fire up our Weber Q to grill a couple huge pork chops we had in our freezer. They were frozen together so just cooked them both once I thawed them out. We will have lotsa leftovers for sandwiches or whatever.
Again a tossed salad to go with the chops. We are really enjoying these tasty salads. So filling and refreshing. Those are not cookies on my plate. Brown Rice crisps with Black sesame seeds. Dressing is EVOO and balsamic vinegar
soo tasty
After supper the skies clouded over, thunder and lightning and a heavy downpour for a while about 7:30pm.
The day was wonderful and Ma is safely in her new home. Next on the agenda is sell her house and purge the rest of here household possessions, that are left. And that is coming together as well. As I said one day and one step at a time and will be done, piece of cake. And would like mention a special thanks to my awesome wife Suzie who really pulled all the paper work and conversations together for us.
Thanks again for your visit and hope you made it through this hot humid day. I know it does bother some people more than others. Now so much us we just go with the flow and enjoy it much more that cold. I never complain about the heat. We have air conditioning in our car, and not so much in our coach unless I fire up the genny here. As long as we are outside in the shade with a nice breeze all is good.

  5. WOW...is that a ton of food your Ma. Her room looks lovely. Everything so close to her.

Most of the people I know that go into assisted living or nursing homes are well taken care of. With the reception y'all had, I can't image it being any different for Ma.

  6. Glad to hear all went well with your ma's move. We know the work involved in doing this, both the physical and paper. hopefully the sale of the house and purging of the rest will go smoothly. Thinking of you often, until we meet again, take care to you both.

  9. Having seen it with my grandmother, I believe it must be very hard to move out of your home and into assisted living and the admissions you must make to yourself. It turns out, these were some of the happiest times of her life.
