Car show, sunshine and a campfire...

Where are we today ?
Arkona Ontario
Just having nice fall weather and enjoying the warm sunny days and cool nights that are real good for sleeping. A morning walkabout and to the store for a few things then chat with Randy and Gail for a bit in the morning sun.
We noticed a few old cars cruising by the resort and heading into Rock Glen Falls Conservation Area, and realized that today is the car show from  9 til 3. It didn't take much persuasion for everybody to do a walk about the trails across the road and check things out.

A beautiful early fall day thru the bush we came to a sunny clearing full of old cars.

Lotsa nice cars here so as we inspected a few walking the outside row towards the smell of food cooking. Just in time for lunch, so we had the choice of hamburgers, sausage or back bacon on a bun as well as lots of homemade tarts.

We sat here and enjoyed lunch as well as the oldies music in the background, setting the theme for the day here. Then we strolled around some more checking out these classic cars, that have be lovingly cared for. Then eventually made our way back home.
Such wonderful sunny day we had to actually sit in the shade to read and enjoyed our books for a while. Then later on made a nice campfire int time for happy hour (gotta burn up the trunk load of wood). A few snacks, beverages then soon time for supper. Fired up our Weber, grilled some garlic sausage, added some mashed potaoes, veggies, tomato and sauerkraut we had a nice tasty supper.
Now after supper back to the campfire, still trying to burn up our firewood and it is taking the evening chill out of the air as well. While we are at it why not have desert, just happened to have 4 Reese's Peanut butter cups, some graham crackers and marshmallows, so looks like S'mores it will be.

Don't wanna be out too late, especially as it is getting much cooler the later it gets, time to call it a night and head inside.
Thanks for the read, hope you enjoyed the old cars and sunny day as much as we did.

  1. Old cars are always fun. I think part of it too is the acknowledgement that the owners have put in so much work to put them on display.

  2. Old cars seem to remind us of out youth whether they are refurbished or refitted they are all beauties. As Bob said it shows someone is taking the time to keep them up.

That was a great way to spend the day. Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  7. That’s a great setting for a car show! The weather is great, there’s some sort of food area, there’s a grill even! It wouldn’t feel like a car show at all! It would be just like a get-together with old friends, who are proud owners of those cool cars, in a campfire. You’ll forget all your inhibitions of getting close to a beautifully restored classic because of the humble setting. :D
