Another good travel day and remember Jake from last Tuesday?

Where are we today ?

Not as cold here this morning but it's prepping me for colder weather ahead. Chat with Suzie for a bit waiting for the sunrise then head north on I-75 through the Tennessee  mountains. Beautiful sunny day all the way. Good roads no wind, rain or snow made good time.
366 miles today
Do you remember reading last Tuesday's posting when I helped out this young fellow Jake at the rest area in Texas. Well I got this awesome thank you letter from his Dad and Mom for helping him out. Tuesday's posting is HERE  . Well I was glad to help him out and they really appreciated it. I am sure glad that things worked out for him.
"Hello George and Sue…Kevin here…Jake’s dad in Austin.  I just wanted to say, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for helping JAKE, after he ran out of gas!  Not many people would’ve taken the time to do what you did.

Jake showed us his pic on your Blog…very funny!  He’s told my wife and I how grateful he is to have met you.  We had no idea he was headed our way; he surprised us! "

Thank you Kevin for the lovely email and glad that he made it home safe and surprised you.

I got on the road just before 8 am as the sun was shining and roads were clear. First day in a week I was not driving directly into the rising sun, nice!
roads good through the mountains
short while later I was into Kentucky
The nice things about I-75 no need to navigate, its gonna take me where I want to go, and rest areas to get out and stretch, make good time, was what I need for the last couple legs of this journey.
love the ice frozen on the highway cuts,
glad it's not on the road
Now almost in Ohio and still great roads.
but now we have snow on the ground,
not on the roads is good
At 2:30 I pulled into Lakewood Village Resort in Wapakonatea Ohio, A Memebrship park (Coast to Coast) for us and love staying here. Full hookups even winter water if you want it. But the beautiful indoor pool and hot that I was looking forward to are closed for maintenance. $10.00 a night.
the lakes here are frozen
this the pool and spas that are closed, darn!
So I took a very long hot shower, to get the frost out of my bones, now that was wonderful!
this be my site
nice view while enjoying supper,
cold but nice
After my shower, checking emails and whipping up supper (the rest of my rotisserie chicken) and a salad, another walkabout.
love my chicken !
even a nice sunset here, just not crazy about the cold
and white stuff on the ground,
Temperature about 12f with the wind feels like 0 f. Yep its cold. Got out my winter coat, heavy winter work socks (yep still have one pair), winter mittens and Toque (knitted hat). I will be good to go for tomorrows journey. Looks like I can make a run for it early tomorrow and beat the weather home. And be with my honey!!!
Thanks again for all your wonderful comments and support sure helps the miles whip on by.

  4. Hey George.... You just made my day. All day (we're down here real close to the Mexican border) and I've been saying... with this weather I could still be in Ohio.... then... up popped your photos.... yeah, I could be in Ohio but I'd be wielding a snow shovel instead of rain boots.... so... I better count my blessings. You're making darned good time.... hope the rest of your trip is safe and without problems. Take Care!

Hope you don't have any problems with the bad potholes in Michigan. You'll be able to give Suzie an extra long hug tomorrow night but you'll be running the heaters to stay warm for sure.

  13. We ran into a fellow and his wife at a gas station not long ago. He was on the phone with his phone trying to figure out to get cash. He had left his wallet at the restaurant he stopped at last. We helped with his gas. He was most appreciative. It says a lot about Jake's family that they sought you out to thank you. Nice boy. Nice family. I bet that made your day.

Hope the snow stays off the roads. Soon this will all be behind you.
