WTH, snow this morning??? But we did get back on the road and made our way further east with a good travel day.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
A very quiet night here at the Deming Walmart, cool and great for sleeping. Even with the time change I was still awake at 4 am, (41F) so puttered around for a while cereal, coffee, computing then waiting for the sun to come up got out for a walkabout the parking lot, no big rush today only going a couple hundred miles so just enjoying the quiet morning times here with my sweetie.
It was 7 am when I started my walking, but it was cold (now 33F) out there AND it started to snow! What the heck ? Ok I walked around the Walmart for about 45 minutes, much warmer there. Back home replaced a cupboard latch, then back to the store for a couple of grocery items I forgot yesterday and refill our RO water jug. Still snowing supposed to stop about 9am. Hmm not happening just large fluffy snow flakes. So at 9:30 we headed on out eastbound on I-10.
what is this whit stuff? at least it is not staying in the ground
So here we go other than the snow fluffies, dull day and some rain a good travel day no high winds like yesterday .
About 45 minutes later we pulled into the Las Cruses Rest area, to visit the Roadrunner again. We had missed him for a couple of years because he had deteriorated, and was rebuilt now with recycled materials, so cool to see especially up close.
love this Roadrunner
I walked about took couple of pictures then decided to make lunch. it was 10:30 but where we are going we will have another time change, so actually 11:30. Start adjusting now. This is 2 days in a row.
from the rest area looking to Las Cruses
A beautiful award winning rest area and a great place to stop for the night if the schedule suited us.
About an Hour later we exited New Mexico and Entered Texas , to whip through El Paso. Very little traffic and no slow downs, just a few miles 2 lanes due to construction but not a big deal.
Thanks for the views New Mexico
here we are Texas now
passed this cute water tower
snow in those mountains her in El Paso
Through the east end once through town we stopped at the Flying J to fuel up, Chatted with the fellow next to us from London Ontario , such a small world. Then back on the road again good travel day.
just cruising along I-10  pretty quiet and not much to see
any more, mind you we have driven
this for for 12 of our 13 years
but we can make good time.
Then now at 2:30 pm we pulled into the Van Horn Rest area (now 3:30pm local time) Parked and walked about for a bit stretch our legs. There was a fellow came by to ask for some money so he could get some gas for his car, he was pretty well on empty. Hmm. ok. I remembered 4 years ago helping a young fellow out on this stretch of road as well. He ran out of gas at the next rest area. So I told him we don't carry cash but I can give him 2 gallons of gas that I always carry. At least I know he got some gas and not cash for whatever. Think I did my good deed for today, makes me feel good anyway.
love the restrooms in these Texas rest areas
nice picnic shelters too
We enjoyed some afternoon reading  between walkabouts then at 5:30 time to whip up supper, Tonight an easy one, a small salad, and our leftovers from the Casino Del Sol in Tucson. Heated up my fish and chips in the fry pan and Suzie's Shrimp Alfredo, easy in the microwave. Push the button on the dash turn the genny on and poof her food is ready. We had scanned the TV stations but of course none here. Almost in the middle of nowhere , No problem plugged in our DVD played and will watch a movie tonight. No matter to me whatever Suzie wants is good with me.
quick easy and fresh tasting not soggy
this hit the spot and she even shared
a bit of her shrimp alfredo with me too
Maybe a sunset later, but is 7 pm already with time changes
If I get a sunset will post in tomorrow
We are still adjusting to these time changes 2 hours lost in 2 days, it will take some catching up  and still have another hour yet to go before we get home. We are now 1 hour behind Ontario.
All in all we had a wonderful travel day, got to where we wanted to be and relax get ready for a long travel day tomorrow, just because we can.
Thanks for joining our travels and hope you had a great day as well.
227 miles today

  1. Happy St Patrick's Day! Lots of local activities here, but honestly I do not enjoy them as much. I like the idea of a nice easy travel day better. I'm sure you'll enjoy another one tomorrow.

  8. SNOW! Ha, the nerve… Love that rest area. Giving the guy a couple of gallons of gas is a nice thing to do. Better than cash. Safe travels to you both.

  11. WE parted ways at Deming. Haha. Feels like we were almost stalking you again George.
I agree with you in your comment to Kevin Read. WE are all different and we all view things very differently. Like you I try to see the glass as half full instead of half empty. I'm not always successful but I try.
    Safe travels!!!

    1. Yes we did . part ways, would have been nice to see you again though. There is only so many ways to travel back to Ontario and enjoy decent weather along the way. Yes we all view things differently and have our own style of travel. My glass is always half full.
