Why, a water leak, and a mystery follower hmm...

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
Overcast again this morning but no problem a nice travel day not far just 155 miles so no real rush, Everything secured, car hooked up and away we went at 9 am our usual departure time when we have not far to go.
Headed east on I-8 out of the foothills and into Dome Valley. A nice route we have travelled many times before over the years. Not much traffic at all just overcast and no rain at all for our travels.
this water tower almost in the middle of nowhere
Not long we got to Gila Bend and south to Ajo and Why. A bit more traffic than usual but a long weekend here and a popular road to Rocky Point Mexico.
through the town of Ajo love the churches here
and the town sqaure
Arrived at Coyote Howls East right at noon and checked in, No reservations needed here. Only $40.00 a week for dry camping, they have dumpstations, water taps, garbage dumpsters, washrooms a  laundry plus we have free wifi. And we found out they added another server since last fall so it is even better than before, bonus!
Now a mystery when we checked in the lady recognized us, from last fall. She said just after we left someone came in and asked for George and Suzie Yates, She did not remember who it was and we don't have a clue. Was it you?
All was good until we disconnected the car. Hmmm. water under our coach near the rear. A quick check and find out a fitting had broken off in out Wet Bay. It was really wet now ! I guess when I stowed our sewer hose it hit the firing that drains our fresh water tank. And now or 75 gallons fresh water was nadda !
Well we parked the coach had a bite for lunch then I investigated. Thought  I had a spare fitting but guess I thought wrong.
broke right off
not fixable
Ok glad we got here early I hopped in the car and into Ajo, First stop Napa Auto, no parts. Then across the street to Olson's grocery store also an Ace Hardware. Did not have that part we needed so in investigated they should have something that would work. And Yahoo! I found a similar fitting that should work
Back home hack saw out cut the pipes cleaned them up and tested the fit, looks good.

this was awkward but got it done
It all went back together very nicely looks like all is glued, need to let it cure about and hour so puttered around bit set up our satellite dish and pulled around to put water in our fresh water tank. And so far no leaks, fingers crossed. Looks like we have success!
new fitting in place
While I was filling the tank I noticed this white van not far away . Van emptied our and all her furniture  outside even a large chair and bicycle. Gotta be that same woman that was across from us in La Posa South, and by Len and Brenda at Imperial Dam. Now this really is a small world !
sure looks famillair
Now parked again and all set up time to celebrate, After all it was 4 o'clock ! A new record for us a 3 hour travel day and 4 hour setup,  but did manage to fix our water leak. Now our wet bay can dry out.
not a sunny day anyway
a good day to do repairs
We did manage to sit for a bit get some reading in and enjoy the wide open spaces and quiet of this place that we have really come to love.
our view no rv's close and no highway noise
Soon time to whip up supper so I preheated our Weber Q made a tasty salad and grilled a couple of boneless skinless chicken thighs and some fresh asparagus.
done on the grill mat keeps the chicken moist
now this sure hot the spot today
Just as this was about ready what do we have?  Sunshine finally and a nice colourful sunset. The skies were cloudy all day because we had a problem it was sad, then the sun came our to smile at us for getting the repairs done, Whadda think? Ok its my story and this is what I want to believe.
the sunset shining on the hills behind us
What a nice way to end a bust day
155 miles a nice desert drive
Now that was it for us today gonna hang out here for a week and just enjoy this area, just because we can.
Thanks for dropping by today and hope you had a good day and did not need to make any repairs. Just part of the rv life. Think about it, driving your house all over the country on different roads, things are bound to break.

  2. Good job with your repairs. You have to be resourceful on this journey! I wonder if the plastic got a bit brittle with age and broke easily when bumped. Regardless.....good for another ten years now. Enjoy Coyote Howls.

    1. Thanks it worked out pretty good, I don't think it was brittle, I had forced the sewer hoes in on that side, it was my fault. Well good until the next repair anyway,
Love it here at Coyote Howls

  3. Repairs are definitely a part of life on the road. I sort of enjoy the repairing as long as it is not a critical repair. Enjoy your stay.

  7. Your pipe repair reminded me of the jobs that your Dad and I used to get into at the cottage (became their retirement home)and our first house in Toronto. Cheers, Harry (& Karen)

    1. Thanks Nancy I am happy that it was fairly easy to fix and I could improvise. The sewer hose I just shoved it in I had a 90 degree clear adapter on so it took more space in the compartment.
I was very nice for the skies to give us a nice bright smile !

    1. Thanks Clancy it was a plumbing repair and you know how to do those. The trick is not to rush in and think about the process.
That lady we have seen a few times this winter, I think it is everything she owns, she empties it out at night to sleep, Rain? I don;t know we have not had any yet, I guess it would just get wet.
