Ok enough of this cloud cover, rain and wind. Gonna be nicer sooner, is my prediction .

Where are we today
Quartzsite Arizona

We have been in and around the southwest for the last 11 years and have never seen this much rain and cloud cover. The temps about the same but without the sunshine sure feels much colder. But heck sure beats the alternative to being back home. And we do love the wide open space of the desert here. As well as the amazing views.
Again a very warm night due to the cloud cover overnight, But today is almost a repeat of yesterday, overcast and some rain, south winds making if pretty cool. If we had the sunshine it would be wonderful.
My early morning walkabout  rewarded me with a very nice sunrise that only lasted a short time then it began to sprinkle a bit.
another great desert sunrise
With the weather looking not too bad for a while, we headed in to check out the vendors at Tyson Wells, before the large crowds arrive tomorrow. Nothing much new there and most of the vendors the same as in previous years. Lots of stuff to see and mostly the same but each one had a few different items. We managed to pick up a few good deals of things we needed. And as the crowds began and the rain as well we headed home for noon. We had seen what we wanted and are done for the day as was the weather.
lotsa stuff to check out
need a hat?
dinted can stuff, good deals
Want food here lotsa vendors as well, if you care. Like I said we were very early so not many people, the crowds began around 11:30 the time we were ready to leave.
nice rest area out of the sun, or rain today

doggie hats
some deals on chairs
quad copters
cactus?
Now as we returned home the rains began for the rest of the day.  Just puttered around ran our genny for a bit, got some reading done, discussed a few things and really enjoyed another rainy day. We don't often get them, here in the desert but really much nicer than a snow day back home in Ontario.
Were gonna grill supper tonight but the way the SE wind was blowing I choose to cook inside.  We had a can of German Potato Salad (below) and recipe on the can called for smoked sausage and BBQ sauce. Heck we have all that so lets give it a try. Easy and quick one pan meal and added to our salad made for a very tasty meal
Now our day is about done, still raining and we toasty warm inside . Mr. heater sure does a wonderful job just sipping at the propane. And no power needed either. Posting this blog and relax for the night, Lets see what tomorrow brings, Suppose to be sunny.
Glad that y'all dropped by and hope you had a wonderful day as well.

Where have we been this Winter

  1. I can't believe how bad AZ weather is this year. Everyone is complaining about the rain and cold. We are in El Paso right now, and it is cold and so very windy! What is going on with the weather gods?

    1. Have never seen this much rain here. And the fact that there is not much sun makes it feel colder. But still is much nicer than back home.

    1. Wonderful here now too, no dust because of the rain we had but still windy.

  5. That wind should settle down too, only calling for 25 mph gusts instead of 40!! How positive we can be when there is promise of sunshine!

  6. I guess things will heat up now that the RV show and the big tent are up and going. Always have to spend one afternoon gawking at the mass of humanity out in the middle of nowhere. Glad the weather is clearing and winds are dying down.

  9. The only winter we had it nice and hot in Holtville was the winter 2005/2006. Every year thereafter we had cold periods before February rolled around with warmer weather.

    1. We have had most winters pretty good, a few cool days, and mostly sunshine. A bit more rain and cloudy weather this year, but we still love.
