Winter solstice, baking shortbread cookies, and Chinese lunch buffet at Lin's with friends.

Where are we today
clic on a pic to enlarge it.
The shortest day for this year, therefore the longest night. with sunrise at 7:37 am and sets at 5:37 pm  MST. Mountain Standard time here, this campground is in California we are so close to Arizona (about 1 mile or so) that is the time zone they use here.
After a couple early walkabouts headed down just after 8 am and got our laundry done and home by 10 am. While Suzie finished pitting it away. I whipped up a 1/2 a batch of melt in you mouth shortbread cookies, just because I could and it is Christmas time a great time for these special cookies we love. For the Recipe click HERE or on my recipe blog top right sidebar. This half batch yields about 4 dozen  bite sized delicacies that melt in you mouth.
Then a bunch of us here decided a treat at Lin's Chinese Buffet.  It is a must for us very year, so 1 pm is a good time on a weekday before the Holiday rush and they wanted to join us. No problem getting a table for 9 of us right away. As usual the buffet was very reasonable less than $19.00 US for an amazing selection of always fresh hot food, including, chinese, pizza, mexican, soups, sushi, the Grill, for made to order stir fry, good selection of deserts and soft ice cream.
this the place we enjoy
my first tasting, salad, Sushi and
 hot N sour soup
2nd sample crawfish,
 varieties of chicken, and rice
No pic of my third and final sample of baked salmon, fried fish, shrimp, enchilada and veggies, no desert for me, I prefer an extra small helping.
this was our fun group, good food ,
 good company and more laughs
Good thing it was an early meal it gave us the rest of the day to work it off. We headed home, the others went shopping. At home I got a few more walkabouts done, hand washed our car and read outside until just after 5 pm getting cooler, even though it was 72f was overcast most of the day and cool north wind. And of course no supper needed tonight.
this is what most of the day looked like,
but was outside almost all of
and in shorts for quite a while
Suzie got her Tucker Fix.
just before heading inside
 for the evening
We take one day at a time to get things done. No rush, just do it and enjoy this pretty decent weather that we love here in the desert. The days will be getting longer now and more sunshine.
Thanks for taking a peek and hope you had a good day as well.

Where have we been this Winter

  5. We made shortbread cookies using a half batch of your recipe. They turned out delicious and we will probably have to make the other half batch! Thanks for putting the recipes out there to share.
