Veteran's Day, Remberenace Day and some minor repairs

Where are we today
clic on a pic to enlarge it
Today is the day to remember the all the veterans that fought for our freedom so many years ago to make this a great country to live in and our freedom.
my father on the left and grandad on the right
Dad did not get to go overseas in WW2
it was done when he was due
our Gandfather, George Shepherd Yates
overseas in WW1
We had a wonderful sleep last night, windows wide open and just perfect sleeping weather. As usual up about 5 am and by 6am our power quit. Hmm, no problem just turned on our inverter. When the sun came up and the power had not came on I went outside, checked pedestal was tripping the breaker, bad ground my tester said.
So, at 8 am I went to the office to advise them and maintenance showed up at 8:30. They checked things out, fixed the problem and we are good to go .
They did mention that our plug should be replaced because it is pretty worn. (after 11 years think it could be!) I had a new one on board so no problem here. Got the tools out and in no time we are good to go, for another 11 years!
old one on the right
easy fix
new plug looks much better
Set out our awning and sunshade because we have direct sun all day and it can get very hot here at this time of year, 85f in the shade!
While I was out and about with the car I found that our old inverter DIED. Well not surprised after 21 years of good use. It was 300 watt inverter that we used in the car to charge our laptops, and cell phones. So I went to the home depot around the corner and bought a black and Decker fancy 500 watt inverter. Hmm, no good would not charge my laptop! Took it back an bought a 100 watt Ridgid  100 watt inverter and works just fine. Go figure and has 2 USB ports as well, for 1/2 the price.
new one left, old one on the right
Thats enough fooling around today. Gotta but my feet up and get some reading time in shade with
my honey.
this sunscreen works wonderful for us
cheap, easy to set up an moveable
yup is good here
I prepped a  5 + pound chicken for our Weber Q, low and slow about 90 minutes to perfection. Added some fresh asparagus for the last few minutes and was wonderful. You probably know we love our chicken! And can't beat the price .88 cents US a lb!
added to our salad was wonderful
and of course lotsa leftovers
and soup in the future
Now here we are in Bullhead City, second day in a row and no major winds. Usually we have been blown away here in the previous years, but so far so good we keeping our fingers crossed, leave here next Thursday. Got a few things done and enjoyed some amazing weather. Almost 8pm again and still outside in shorts, amazing !
Thanks for stopping by and joining us

  1. Your grandfather and my grandfather might have been in the same area - on either side. NEVER AGAIN!

  2. I didn't know anything lasted 12 years any more. Look at the sized difference in those investors. Just amazing.

    1. Things can last with proper care, but never like the stuff made years ago.
Newer technology , todays technology can make things much smaller, just look at the new cells phone today.

  3. Wish I had a picture of my grandfather when he served in WWI with the English Army. Your grandfather's picture in uniform is a real treasure!

Nice job on the plug, good thing you had a spare, it looks good for another dozen years of service. :c)

  4. Love your pictures. Those are great ones to have.

It seems there's always one problem or another and something we always need to get fixed.

    1. We have quite a few old pictures, real treasures.
Everything has a lifespan and eventually wears out. Keeps the economy going, lol...

  6. Those replacement plugs are pretty handy - I used them to make an extension cord so I could plug in at home.
