Heading west and just enjoying the open road.

Where are we today
clic on a pic to enlarge it
Got up bright and early, had the coffees, computing and a walkabout, just waiting until 9 am so that we will miss the morning rush hour traffic around Buffalo NY. Then all secured and we on the road.
A longer day than we like, but we plan on a few more of these just to get far enough west, so we can slow down and see some new scenery. But ya know, it is so nice to be back on the road, cruising on down the highway, rocking to tunes on our Sirius Radio and enjoying the wonderful views from our huge panoramic windshield in the coach, looking over all the cars and traffic. This is the life ! No real plans, no reservations, just do it... Oh we do have a reservation for Christmas... Other than that we just wing it.
310 miles today
Took I-80 west exit New York, zip through Pennsylvania and into Ohio. All interstate, nice scenery, and lots of rest areas to get out and stretch. We stopped at one about noon and enjoyed a nice light lunch.
still some nice fall colors
Nice rest area and a tornado shelter as well.
We arrived at our destination for the day at 4pm, a Flying J just east of Toledo Ohio, Perfect stopping spot for us. And the fuel price gotta love it! And with our Good Sam Card swiped we get a 3 cent a gallon discount so only $1.81.9 a gallon.
like the gas prices here
Now that we are fuelled up we gonna park for the night, walkabout a bit, relax and whip up supper.
nice parking spot here for the night,
dead end service road
right beside the Flying J
Supper tonight I baked a couple Haddock Fillets with Panko Bread crumbs in the oven, for the recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar. Added a nice fresh salad and sure hit the spot.
sure was tasty
Now after a nice supper we will read a bit post the blog, see where we go tomorrow and even watch a bit of Tv then call it a night after our first good travel day. Good weather and no traffic.
Thanks for checking us out and joining our journey.
Hope y'all had a great day too.

Where have we been this Winter

  3. Gas is more expensive in Nevada than you paid there. Hopefully, it'll get cheaper when we cross over into Arizona. It does feel good to get on the road again. We understand completely.

  6. Gas prices are good. The diesel price is about the same as here in Eastern Ontario. I thought the diesel would be lower.

  9. You have been driving the very same route I took on my way out west, but I think you went down I-90 not I-80. I never saw gas prices that low though. Was always above 2 Bucks.
