Rolled ribs and pigtails kind of a day!

Where are we today ?
Great night for sleeping again not too cold about 40f nice and cozy under our antique heavy felt comforter ( I call it the 100 pound comforter, crawl under it and ya don't move lol..). Looks like it's on now our bed until late next spring. Overcast pretty well all day , but the sun did peak out a couple times for a few minutes. even a couple light rain showers. Between the showers I did get a few walkabouts town and trip to the grocery store for a few items.
love the colors across the road
Not much going on but did get our freezer defrosted (exciting eh?). But gotta do it.
And right after lunch I prepared supper for tonight. Rolled ribs and pig tails. For a good friend and our financial advisor. Two of his most favorite foods that I made in my restaurant.  Whenever I made them I had to phone him and he would drive out from Kitchener 20 minutes away for a meal. I don't think he ever missed them. So we invited him for dinner tonight and we will feast (he usually takes us out for a good lunch) Then we will discuss our funds which we do a couple times a year.

I can do these on our Weber Q but with the cool weather and long cooking time it is easier to cook inside plus we get the bonus heat from the oven heating our coach. Not to mention the aroma we are smelling all afternoon. Suzie went to visit her mom while I babysat the oven and got some nice reading time in.

The pig tails take about 3-4 hours in the oven and the rolled ribs 2-3 hours to be done perfectly. Roasted BBQ pigtails are a delicacy in the Kitchener area I  fell in love with them when I first moved to the area from Toronto 45 years ago. Now with my high cholesterol I have dropped my levels dramatically over the last year. Our healthy eating habits have paid off. So I guess we can cheat once in a while then back at it again, my levels are really low now, my weight is not a problem after loosing 50 lbs, I actually have to eat a bit more to maintain it. For the Pigtail recipe click  HERE. and the Rolled ribs click HERE. OR both are on my recipe Blog top right side bar.

rolled ribs and pig tails
all done and ready for the feast
Thats it we had the feast, added a salad to try and make it healthy, but  even then not too much. A nice visit with our advisor and git our funds all straightened around, still looking good.
We had the Thanksgiving feasts and to top it off tonights dinner all so very tasty. Good thing with the moderation we did not gain any weight. But will get back to our healthy eating habits again and our tummies will feel much better.
Thanks again for stopping by, we both had a fun day just doing a bit of cooking and reading.

    1. Even Suzie will eat pig tails but they are kinda fiddly and messy to eat.
The actual meat on a pig tail is much tastier then the best pork ribs you ever had.

  2. I guess pig tail is the same idea as oxtail. Some folks won't eat oxtail but it's so flavorful. I was raised on oxtail stew.

  3. I thought pig's tails were curly. Have I been mistaken all my life? :cO

    1. I guess the curl comes out of them when they are butchered?

  4. Nothing wrong with having a tasty treat every now and then. After you should indulge yourself from time to time, part of living a good balance life.

    1. The rolled ribs are excellent, and the so are the pig tails. I have found them in some grocery stores, More Mexican type stores. Not sure if you have any like that where you are though.

    1. Cooked right they fall off the bone and are so tasty, if you don't mind the fat.
