Yep, think we made a good choice to stay here a bit longer.

Where are we today ?
Well looks like we made a good choice to come back to this area when we did. The weather, the sun shine and it is hot! Just the way we like it.
nice fountain by the clubhouse
flowers on the cactus
tiny lizards everywhere when its hot
The day is wonderful, inside our coach, you can see it below. 89f,  but no humidity here so it is really not too bad.
outside temps in the shade
So early morning we do stuff that needs to be done and by noon its getting hot. So what to do? Roll out our awning and enjoy our books in the shade, thinking about a dip in the pool, but a nice shower really hit the spot instead.
my book today
We had major problem here with black ants here on our patio. So found a simple fix. We have an expired box of corn muffin mix in the cupboard. Spread this over the ant hill yesterday and today! No ants they are all gone. No chemicals and a really cheap fix, amazing how it works!
expired box of mix worked awesome
Now today I get to cook again, Fired up our Weber Q, grilled a cornish hen, taters on the grill, and broccoli with  mushrooms in foil really hit the spot.
our Weber Q just does a great job
a little Swiss Chalet dipping sauce for me and all is good
Dinner done, and then we get to enjoy another excellent Desert sunset. Does it get much better than this? Think not!
Thanks once again for stopping on by.
Hope you had a great day too!

  1. The idea with corn muffin mix will come handy at home! I tried baking soda last summer, but it only burned the lawn, the ants didn't move. :(
    Thanks for the info.

  4. I did not know about the corn muffin fix for ants. Love it. And I love our weather. A bit warmer down where you are but that's okay.

  5. We always have Jiffy Corn Meal with us so thanks for sharing. We've used comet before and it has worked like a charm too. We've also put it on our sewer lines and circles around the tires to keep the ants from crossing over and using them as ladders into the coach.

      Thanks for the comet tip.

  6. I've heard that grits also work for ants, but I don't know if we've ever tried it.

89 sounds too hot for me inside.....but maybe with no humidity.

    1. Being not humid at all really makes a difference.

  7. We have ants in our condo (I guess that's better than cockroaches... but...) I believe these critters are so big they'd carry away the cardboard box the muffin mix came in! I saw about 6 ants carrying something (a grain of rice?) across the floor yesterday. I'm constantly wiping off the counter and table and stove... and sweeping the floor... but the ants just keep on marching through. I have no idea where the ant hills are... I'm thinking maybe the whole condo is built on top of a huge one.

    1. Ants sure can be a nuisance once you get infested, we try to keep them out. But that is not your option there, soo your will just move out and let them take over.

  8. But how does this work for the ants? Doe they just get bloated and die? Where did you hear about this from?

    1. I read that corn meal does make them bloated. Did not have corn meal but had this expired box of muffin mix, thought I would give it a try.

  9. FYI, we control ants with one drop of a liquid called 'Ant Be Gone" from Home Depot and they disappear. Just a tiny bottle to carry with you.

    1. Both our window thermometers were reading that in the shade, and not too bad as long as you don't move around too much.

  12. Aaahh, just another day in a winter paradise, George. 89F is a little hot without a fan on for me. But, I'm willing to put up with it - after all the ice storms, etc. I've been through this winter, trying to get someplace warm! I'm heading into Tucson today and it's supposed to be hot there. Lots of afternoon reading in store for me!

  13. Hey George! Thank you for the corn meal tip! I don't have the muffin mix but have corn meal in the cupboard. We always seem to house spring ants so will definitely give it a try! We are still shivering here in the white, cold city of London, Ontario and are GREEN only with envy of your heat. :O
