Hockey, family visit and a BBQ chicken, so what if it rained all day?

Where are we today ?
Its was raining first thing this morning and never really stopped all day, did not see the sunshine and don't think the temps got above 5c (40f). But hey no s*%w yet, we can live with that for a few more days.
We had an awesome day anyway, 8 am grandson number 4 has hockey practice, today he was goalie, he really seemed to enjoy that, I know we did.
sponsored by Tim Hortons, they are
"Timbits"
Timbits are tiny doughnut balls from Tim Hortons and a quite popular very tasty snack here.
An hour back at home, then back to the arena for 10 am, and watch grandson number one actually play his first game. He played quite well but their team did not win, pretty good hockey though for these young guys.
Back home for a quick bite then George from M&G Portables stopped by to pump out our sewage tanks, its been 10 days for us and he comes to us for only $20.00, this be the last time here for this year.
Now I prepped a caesar salad and pealed potatoes for supper. My son Ken and his buddy Lennox were driving up for a visit, they were in the area last weekend on their motorcycles for Oktoberfest and drove back home in the cold and rain, the whole bunch of them ended up with colds from that excursion.
So today they dropped out here for a visit and said I would whip them up supper. I fired up our Weber Q and cooked a chicken on a trivet this time. The trivet because it was so cold out and had to cook on high temperature for 90 minutes. With out the trivet and foil the bottom would have been pretty black.
turned out perfect on this cold rainy day
And to simply things I made some creamy mashed potatoes, a caesar salad and garlic bread w/cheese. They both like hot sauces so got out my supplies and sampled some on the chicken.
Lennox and Ken
We did managed to finish off the whole meal no leftovers, and full tummies, thats good.
Had a great visit with them and they headed back to the big city, before it got too late.
Another day under our belts, nice to see more of the family before heading out.
Want to thank you for stopping in for a read and hope you had as much fun on this rainy day as we had. Now have a great Sunday too, know we will.

The trivet works real good when grilling in cold weather.

  2. Thanks for the grilling tip.

Hope the Weather keeps up until after you leave. It's not nice when you leave tracks on white pavement. Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  3. I never thought about cooking anything on a trivet. Actually, never thought about cooking a whole chicken either. Let it rain today because next week at this time you should be heading for the sunshine

  4. Seems to be raining on a whole lot of blog folks today. Your chicken looks almost as good as our wings did.

  5. That chicken looks perfect. Bet it was chilly watching the hockey game. But they are so cute out there.

  7. You never cease to amaze me with all these tricks you pull from out of your sleeve to cook great meals on your Weber. Never would have thought to use a trivet to cook chicken on. But then, that's why you're the Weber Master Griller! ;c)

  8. Sure like your grandson's hockey sponsor - Tim Horton's. I pretty much use a trivet and foil whenever I do a whole chicken on our Weber and they always turn out great.

    1. Tim Hortons is a great sponsor.
This is the first time for the trivet with the chicken, only because it was so cold outside, in the warmer weather I don't usually bother, because I can cook it low and slow.

  9. Nice you got to see the grands play hockey before your departure, they both look sharp in their uniforms. Looked and sounded like a nice dinner and visit with your son, can't go wrong with one of your Weber chickens.
